The handles are real not junk,the blades keep an edge and cut very cleanly.
If you are tired of looking at so so knives or incomplete sets this might just be your ticket.try to price out what you are getting for $750. 17 peices thats about $50 a peice.
I have had these for 1 year and will say that the ballance, finnish, feel and overall craftsmanship is outstanding.
The only negetive i have is that they didn't all have the hollow edge treatment.
